About SOPHIA CUNI-MERTZ, LPC
I’m a licensed professional counselor in the state of Kansas. It is my goal to empower and walk alongside you on your healing journey. My process includes cultivating a safe and welcoming therapeutic environment, emphasizing your strengths, and offering unconditional compassion and skills-building so that you can be your own mental health advocate. I’d love to help you reach your therapy goals.
I’m not currently accepting new clients.
“I wish it need not have happened in my time,” said Frodo.
“So do I,” said Gandalf, “and so do all who live to see such times. But that is not for them to decide. All we have to decide is what to do with the time that is given us.”

My Approach
I integrate aspects of acceptance and commitment therapy (ACT), exposure and response prevention (ERP), client-centered therapy, strengths-based counseling, and multicultural and feminist approaches in my work. I believe encouraging you to accept all your experiences wholly is a necessary part of healing, because a good life is not necessarily an easy one. I highlight the importance of your cultural identities to help you develop a comprehensive understanding of all the environmental forces that shape your wellbeing and utilizing your strengths and values to achieve your goals in and outside of the therapy room.
